My Photography Journey
Ever since I was little, I loved stories. I was an avid reader and by fourth grade I wanted to be an author. I originally went into college as an English major but switched to Advertising because of my interest in social media and design. Even in advertising, the goal is to tell a story that the consumer can connect with. Now, I want my photos to be a reflection of your story.
I used to be scared of cameras. Crazy, right? To me, they seemed so complicated and like something I could never learn. However, I appreciated good photos. Even before I picked up a camera, I admired the work of several documentary style photographers, wishing that there was a photographer in my area that used the same style. A year or so later, I was inspired to pick up photography after watching an Instagram reel (of all things) about an old digital camera and the photos from it. I asked my dad for his. It was a Sony Cybershot from 2009. Originally, I was just hoping for a little camera to take around with my friends, but after seeing what I could do with it, I did several photoshoots.
Sadly, a few months later it broke on a plane ride. Through photography, I found something I loved doing and that I was good at. I couldn't give it up, so I bought a new camera and continued doing photoshoots.
At the end of the fall semester of my sophomore year of college, I needed a new part-time job. I was so worried about the process of finding a new job and having to go through the interview process again. I knew that if I could just get a photoshoot every other week that it would be enough money to cover the necessities I was responsible for. Over Christmas break, I prayed and felt like I needed to trust God and that He would bring the people. Sure enough, He provided. Since then, I have been getting enough inquiries to be able to have this as my part-time job, and I couldn't be more thankful.
I would be honored if you allowed me to be a part of your journey and you a part of mine!
